SCHS class of 2027
We will be doing group College and Career Ready Meetings with the sophomores this year. If you have additional questions or need to talk to your counselor after your group meeting, you can come to the counseling center to make an appointment. We will discuss the following items:
- Make sure you are meeting the graduation requirements.
- For information about classes offered at SCHS see our Course Catalog
- If you have failed a class or are behind on credits - please review the options to make up Credit
- Update your four year plan in PowerSchool with classes you have taken or are taking
- Taking the classes for the Opportunity Scholarship is a great way to prepare for college while earning a scholarship.
- If you plan on playing sports in college - make sure you are NCAA Eligible
- As a Junior you have the option of:
- AP Classes offered at SCHS
- Concurrent Enrollment options: Some classes require a 3.0 GPA and a qualifying test score on the ACT or Accuplacer Placement Test.
- Concurrent Enrollment with Utah Tech University at SCHS indicated in bold on your registration form
- General Education Certificate with UTU
- Concurrent Enrollment with Dixie Tech

8. Take classes that help you explore careers while in high school. If you take career specific classes, you can become a Pathway Completer. You can also explore careers with an internship. CTE Pathway Video
9. College is not just an Associates or Bachelors degree - it also includes certificates and specific training. Some of this training can be started in high school at Dixie Tech and Cosmetology Schools. Don't see what you want locally, here are some of the other technical training options in Utah you can consider after high school.
10. Start preparing for the ACT next year. Reviewing our ACT Prep options and taking the recommended core curriculum will help improve your score.
11. Keep your GPA up! Your GPA and ACT will determine academic merit scholarships.
12. Chose the classes you want to take considering graduation requirements, college prep, and exploring careers.
13. Make sure you sign up for 8 full credits plus 4 alternatives (different from your original 8), have all required signatures and turn in your completed registration sheet.
